We are representing a high-profile, internationally recognised construction and property advisory consultancy seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Construction Safety Consultant to join its established Safety & Risk team.
This is an opportunity to become part of a highly respected consultancy working with an impressive portfolio of clients, ranging from major public sector organisations and Crown Estate property portfolios through to international developers, institutional investors and leading private sector businesses.
The consultancy's impressive client portfolio includes major international investment banks, leading institutional property investors, prominent commercial property developers and some of the UK's largest industrial and logistics property owners, reflecting the calibre, diversity and complexity of the projects undertaken by its teams.
Projects span commercial property, major development, refurbishment, public estates and complex construction programmes, providing genuine variety and the opportunity to develop relationships with influential clients.
Importantly, the majority of projects will be regionally focused, allowing you to establish strong local client relationships whilst retaining the opportunity to contribute to selected projects elsewhere in the UK.
The Opportunity
Working alongside an experienced senior leadership team, you will provide specialist construction safety, Principal Designer and CDM advisory services across a varied portfolio of projects.
This is a client-facing consultancy appointment, requiring the ability to provide practical, commercially informed advice to developers, design teams, contractors and property owners.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Acting as Principal Designer and CDM Advisor across construction and refurbishment projects.
• Advising clients and project teams on their responsibilities under the CDM Regulations 2015.
• Leading design risk management discussions and contributing to design team meetings.
• Preparing and reviewing Pre-Construction Information, Design Risk Registers, Construction Phase Plans and Health & Safety Files.
• Reviewing contractor RAMS, with particular attention to higher-risk construction activities.
• Undertaking site safety inspections, preparing reports and advising on corrective actions.
• Working collaboratively with project managers, architects, engineers and other construction professionals.
• Developing lasting client relationships and contributing to the continued growth of the consultancy's Safety & Risk services.
Investment in Your Professional Development
One of the most compelling aspects of this opportunity is the organisation's commitment to training, professional development and career progression.
The consultancy recognises that the continued success of its business depends upon the technical expertise and professional development of its people.
You will join an environment where ongoing learning is actively encouraged, with opportunities to:
• Work towards additional professional qualifications and chartered status.
• Develop and broaden your technical expertise across construction safety, Principal Designer and wider risk advisory disciplines.
• Access structured professional development, technical training and support from experienced senior colleagues.
• Gain exposure to increasingly complex projects and prestigious client organisations.
• Progress towards more senior consultancy and leadership responsibilities as your career develops.
Whether you are already professionally chartered or working towards your next qualification, this represents an opportunity to continue building your professional credentials within an established and supportive consultancy environment.
About You
We are interested in speaking with experienced construction safety professionals who have developed their careers within construction consultancy, Principal Designer or CDM advisory environments.
Ideally, you will demonstrate:
• Strong working knowledge of the CDM Regulations 2015 and their practical application.
• Experience acting as Principal Designer and/or CDM Advisor on construction projects.
• Confidence engaging with clients, design teams, contractors and senior stakeholders.
• Experience preparing and reviewing construction safety documentation.
• An ability to manage multiple projects whilst maintaining high standards of service delivery.
• Strong communication, report-writing and client relationship management skills.
• A commercially aware, pragmatic approach to construction risk management.
Professional membership of APS, IOSH, CIOB or CABE would be advantageous, particularly CMaPS or those working towards this or another relevant professional qualification.
A full UK driving licence will be required.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
Beyond the strength of the consultancy's reputation, this appointment offers an attractive combination of professional variety, career stability and development.
You will have the opportunity to work with prestigious clients, contribute to technically interesting projects and become part of a business with the resources and commitment to support your continued professional growth.
For an experienced Principal Designer or Construction Safety Consultant who enjoys the technical and advisory aspects of their profession, but also wants to develop their career within a larger, internationally recognised organisation, this is an opportunity well worth exploring.
