Trainee Recruitment Consultant - US Hours | Liverpool Street, London
Start your career in the US market, from London.
Most graduates start recruitment on UK hours in a crowded market. At Hamilton Barnes you can start on a US desk instead, working with our Austin team and recruiting for some of the fastest growing companies in America.
Hamilton Barnes recruits the people that power the internet. We began in 2014 in a cupboard in London and we now have offices across the UK, US and Asia. We have been named a Sunday Times Best Place to Work three years in a row, and we are still growing quickly.
The US is where a lot of that growth is happening. Demand for network, cloud, cybersecurity and data centre engineers is rising, driven by AI and the infrastructure behind it. These are senior, well paid roles at companies that need specialists fast, and that is where you will be working.
The hours
-
Monday to Thursday, 11:30am to 9:00pm
-
Friday, 11:30am to 7:00pm
The role follows US working hours, with an 11:30 am start and a 9 pm finish Monday to Thursday, finishing at 7pm on Fridays. This gives you more flexibility in the mornings while allowing you to work closely with candidates and clients across the US market. The hours are an important part of the role, so we are looking for those that are comfortable working later into the evening.
Our consultants are paid on what they bill, and a placement in the US market is worth more than most people expect.
The training
You do not need recruitment experience. From day one you join our 12 week training programme, with one to one mentoring and daily coaching from consultants and managers who have done the job. 78% of our consultants earn a promotion within their first five months, and people here are promoted on results, not time served.
What you will do
You will headhunt specialist engineers on LinkedIn and over the phone, build relationships with US clients and candidates, and manage deals from first conversation to placement. You will learn from the Austin team every day and work a market they already know well.
Who we are looking for
We want competitive people who like being measured on results. You will be comfortable picking up the phone and speaking to strangers, and you will bounce back from a bad day. You will be curious about business and technology, and you will be disciplined enough to keep going when the work gets hard. Team sports, part time jobs, hospitality and anything else that shows you can work hard and handle pressure all count in your favour. A degree is welcome but not required.
You will need to be based in or near London and happy to work in our central London office. Working US hours has to genuinely suit you, so we will ask about it at interview.
