A mechanical manufacturing services business supporting the aerospace and defence industry require a Strategic Buyer to develop supplier relationships, drive commercial performance, and support the development of a resilient and high-performing supply chain. Our client is a forward-thinking, progressive business offering a 36 hour, 4 day week.
Working closely with senior leadership, Quality, Engineering and Supply Chain teams, the Strategic Buyer will be responsible for supplier performance management, contract negotiation, risk mitigation and continuous improvement initiatives across the supplier base.
Specific duties of the Strategic Buyer include:
Develop and manage strategic supplier relationships to support business objectives.
Negotiate and renew supplier contracts and long-term agreements.
Supplier Relationship Management; supplier reviews, performance improvement initiatives, corrective actions, risk assessments etc.
Manage NDAs and other supplier-related commercial agreements.
Provide demand forecasts to key suppliers to support capacity planning.
Support operational purchasing activities when required.
Strategic Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:
Previous experience in a Strategic Buyer, Senior Buyer, Procurement Manager or similar procurement role
Experience working within an aerospace, defence, manufacturing or engineering business
Strong supplier relationship management and negotiation skills.
Commercially and contractually strong - ability to negotiate and manage supplier contracts
Confident communicator, capable of influencing stakeholders and suppliers at all levels.
Proactive, organised and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
