The Opportunity: Our client, a successful multi-site educational organisation, is seeking an experienced Trust Finance Officer to join their central finance team on a part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong transactional finance experience to support the effective financial management of multiple schools within a collaborative and purpose-driven environment.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring financial controls are maintained and that purchasing, payments, income and reconciliations are processed accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Support the operation and monitoring of financial accounts and budgets.
Process purchase orders, invoices and supplier payments in line with established financial procedures.
Verify budget availability prior to processing expenditure.
Administer BACS payments and other authorised financial transactions.
Reconcile bank accounts, payment cards and supplier statements.
Process and record income, ensuring accurate banking and financial records.
Maintain petty cash records and ensure all transactions are appropriately authorised.
Resolve supplier queries and investigate outstanding items.
Liaise with suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders on financial matters.
Support budget holders with purchasing processes and value-for-money considerations.
Monitor income and expenditure for trips, events and other activities, producing reports where required.
Maintain accurate asset and inventory records.
Assist with financial reporting, year-end activities and audit preparation.
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of financial systems and processes.About You
Previous experience in a finance, accounts or school finance position.
Strong understanding of purchase ledger, accounts administration and payment processing.
Experience completing reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records.
Confident using Microsoft Excel and finance systems.
Excellent organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
Able to manage multiple priorities and work independently when required.Desirable Experience
Experience within the education, public sector or not-for-profit sector.
Exposure to budget monitoring and financial reporting.
