Proactive Global is recruiting a Coded Welder for an established engineering manufacturer in Luton. You will produce components and sub-assemblies to engineering drawings and approved welding procedures, working with carbon and stainless steels.
What you will be doing:

Welding components to drawings, specifications and approved procedures.

Preparing weld surfaces and setting up equipment.
-
Completing coded welding with the appropriate authorisation.
-
Checking equipment condition and calibration before use.
-
Monitoring consumables and maintaining storage records.
-
Recording completed work through the ERP system.
-
Meeting production requirements while maintaining high-quality welds.
-
Following health, safety and environmental procedures.
What you will bring:
-
A completed welding apprenticeship.
-
At least five years’ coded welding experience in an engineering environment.
-
Open-root pipe or plate welding experience using TIG/GTAW, MMA/SMAW and MAG/GMAW.
-
TIG welding and full root penetration experience.
-
Experience with carbon and stainless steels across different thicknesses.
-
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and Welding Procedure Specifications.
-
Relevant coded qualifications to standards such as ISO, ASME or AWS.
-
Experience producing welds subject to ultrasonic, radiographic or other non-destructive testing.
-
Experience with pressure vessels, piping systems or similar critical components.
-
Brazing experience, which is essential. Torch or induction brazing experience is desirable.

The interview includes a practical pipe welding test. Candidates must bring their own safety shoes, safety glasses, flame-retardant overalls, welding helmet and gloves.
