Freelance NEC Planner – South Wales
Are you an experienced NEC Planner with a strong background in civil engineering and construction projects? We’re looking for a freelance Planner to support an established civil engineering client in South Wales.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction planning professional who has a solid understanding of NEC contracts, project programming and construction delivery. The role offers a flexible working commitment, ideally three days per week, making it well suited to a freelance planner seeking a part-time contract opportunity.
The Role
As Freelance NEC Planner, you will support the planning and programming of civil engineering works, helping project teams maintain accurate construction programmes and monitor progress against key milestones.
You will work closely with project delivery teams to ensure programmes are realistic, well maintained and aligned with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Develop, update and maintain construction programmes for civil engineering projects.

Apply your knowledge of NEC contracts, including programme requirements and contractual obligations.

Monitor project progress against planned activities, milestones and key dates.

Identify programme risks, delays and potential critical path issues.

Support the preparation and review of programme updates and progress reports.

Liaise with project managers, site teams and other stakeholders to ensure programme accuracy.

Assist with assessing the impact of change, delays and revised construction sequences.

Ensure programmes reflect site progress, resource requirements and project delivery priorities.
Requirements
To be considered for this freelance opportunity, you should have:

Proven experience working as a Planner within civil engineering or infrastructure.

Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and NEC programme requirements.

Experience developing and managing construction programmes.

An understanding of critical path analysis, programme updates and delay management.

The ability to communicate effectively with project managers, engineers and site teams.

A proactive, organised approach and the ability to work independently on a freelance basis.
Experience using construction planning software such as Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject would be beneficial.
