About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Occupational Therapist to join a busy Adult Social Care Duty Team within a London Local Authority.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality occupational therapy assessments to adults with a range of physical, sensory and cognitive needs. You will work collaboratively with individuals, families, carers and other professionals to promote independence, safety and wellbeing within the community.
This is a fast-paced role suited to an Occupational Therapist who is confident managing a varied caseload, prioritising urgent referrals and making sound professional decisions within a statutory social care environment.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake timely occupational therapy assessments in line with the Care Act 2014 and relevant legislation and local authority procedures.
Assess individuals' functional needs and identify appropriate interventions to maximise independence and reduce risks.
Complete assessments for equipment, adaptations and other practical solutions to support people at home.
Identify and respond appropriately to urgent and high-risk referrals.
Provide advice and recommendations regarding major and minor adaptations, specialist equipment and moving and handling.
Work closely with Social Workers, Health Professionals, Housing colleagues, carers and other agencies.
Contribute to safeguarding processes and identify concerns in accordance with local safeguarding procedures.
Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive case records.
Manage a busy and varied workload effectively, prioritising according to risk and need.
Support service users to achieve positive outcomes and remain as independent as possible in their own homes.
Participate in duty and rota arrangements as required by the service.
About You
You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with current HCPC registration and experience of working with adults in a health, social care or community setting.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have:
Experience working within Adult Social Care or a community occupational therapy service.
Good knowledge of the Care Act and relevant social care legislation.
Experience undertaking functional assessments and recommending appropriate equipment and adaptations.
Strong assessment, analytical and risk-assessment skills.
The ability to work confidently and independently within a busy duty environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
