We are looking for an experienced, Multi-Skilled Lathe Setter to join our manufacturing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who is skilled in setting and operating lathes, enjoys working to tight tolerances, and is confident to supervise and motivate machine operators.
The Role
As a Multi-Skilled Lathe Setter, you will be responsible for setting and operating lathes and drilling machines to manufacture precision parts in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
Your duties will include:
Setting and operating lathes and drillers.

Producing precision parts to tight tolerances

Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and standards

Selecting appropriate tooling, speeds and feeds

Capable of grinding turning tools and drills
-
Carrying out in-process quality checks
-
Using measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers and gauges

Making tooling and jigs where required
-
Identifying and resolving machining issues
-
Supervising machine operators
-
Carrying out basic machine maintenance and housekeeping
-
Working to production schedules while maintaining high-quality standards

Supporting other areas of the workshop when required

Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment
About You
The ideal candidate will have:

Experience with lathes, milling or other machining processes is a necessity.

Strong knowledge of machining processes and tooling

The ability to confidently read and understand engineering drawings
-
Experience working to tight tolerances
-
Good knowledge of inspection and measurement techniques
-
A practical, problem-solving approach

Excellent attention to detail

The ability to work independently as well as part of a team

A strong commitment to quality and health & safety
