About the Role:
As a Labourer / Fitter’s Mate, you will provide essential on-site support to experienced fitters, ensuring installations are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You’ll be involved in all aspects of preparation, movement of materials, and basic fitting assistance, helping to deliver quality workmanship at customer sites nationwide. Your contribution will directly support project timelines and customer satisfaction while you build valuable trade skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist fitters with the installation of bespoke worktops and fireplaces at customer sites across the UK
Carry, lift, and move materials safely, using correct manual handling techniques
Use basic hand and power tools to support fitting tasks under supervision
Help prepare materials, components, and equipment prior to installation
Follow technical instructions and site-specific guidance to support accurate fitting work
Carry out general labouring duties, including loading/unloading vehicles and site housekeeping
Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment in line with site health and safety requirements
Travel to various locations, adapting to different sites, schedules, and working conditions as required
Key Requirements:
Proven ability to carry out manual handling and lifting tasks safely and consistently
Experience using basic hand and power tools in a work or site environment
Basic understanding of mechanical fitting assistance, such as positioning, holding, and securing components
Awareness of site health and safety practices, including PPE use and safe working procedures
Ability to follow technical instructions, drawings, or measurements accurately
Basic measurement and marking out skills for materials and components
Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel to sites nationwide
Valid CSCS card for site access and compliance
Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a small, site-based team
Desirable Skills:
Previous experience as a labourer, fitter’s mate, or similar site-based role
Experience working on construction, installation, or shopfitting projects
Familiarity with working in occupied properties or customer-facing environments
Comfortable with occasional early starts, late finishes, and varied travel patterns
Qualifications:
GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English – preferred
Valid CSCS card – essential
Full UK driving licence – essential
Any basic health and safety or manual handling training certificates – desirable
