Are you looking for a part-time catering role with no school holiday working?
We are recruiting for a friendly and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join the catering team at a welcoming specialist school supporting children and young people aged 5-19 with Autism and associated additional needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a role that fits around family life or other commitments, as you'll be working term time only - meaning your school holidays are free!
The school provides a supportive, nurturing environment for a small number of pupils and has been recognised by Ofsted for the quality of its Behaviour & Attitudes and Personal Development.
The Role
Working alongside the School Cook and wider kitchen team, you'll help ensure pupils receive nutritious, well-prepared meals in a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with the preparation and serving of hot and cold meals
Supporting the Cook during busy meal services
Keeping the kitchen, equipment and surrounding areas clean and hygienic
Following food hygiene, health & safety and COSHH procedures
Helping with deliveries, stock and food storage when required
Working as part of a friendly and supportive school teamWhat We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking and happy to get stuck in.
Ideally, you'll have:
Previous experience within a kitchen, catering or food preparation environment
Good knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
An understanding of health & safety and safe working practices
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication skills and a positive attitude
A flexible approach to supporting a busy school kitchenExperience within a school, care, residential or healthcare setting would be beneficial, but most importantly, we're looking for someone with the right attitude and a genuine willingness to contribute to the school community.
