I am currently representing Tower Hamlets Council who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 12 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience
We are looking for a Accommodation Procurement Officer this role will be based at: E1 1BJ.
The right candidate will:
To support the Council’s programme to reduce temporary accommodation by securing good-quality, affordable and sustainable private rented accommodation for households experiencing homelessness or living in temporary accommodation.
The postholder will work proactively with households, private landlords, letting agents and internal Council services to identify suitable housing solutions, overcome barriers to move-on and support households through to a successful and sustainable tenancy.

Assess the housing needs, circumstances and barriers of households living in temporary accommodation and identify appropriate move-on opportunities.

Develop individual move-on plans to support households into suitable and sustainable accommodation.

Source and secure good-quality, affordable private rented sector properties that meet the Council’s housing, quality and safety requirements.

Build and maintain effective working relationships with private landlords, letting agents, property owners and other housing providers.

Proactively identify new private rented sector opportunities and develop a strong network of landlords and agents.

Negotiate with landlords and agents regarding rents, tenancy terms, deposits, incentives and other barriers to securing accommodation.

Work closely with Housing Options, Temporary Accommodation, Homelessness, Housing Benefits and other Council teams to coordinate successful moves.

Provide advice and practical support to households on securing accommodation, affordability, tenancy requirements and maintaining a successful tenancy.

Identify and address barriers such as affordability, rent levels, property availability, household circumstances and tenancy readiness.
We require the following:

Experience of working within a housing, homelessness, temporary accommodation or private rented sector environment.

Good knowledge of homelessness legislation, housing options and the private rented sector.

Experience of working with landlords, letting agents or other housing providers.

Understanding of the challenges faced by households living in temporary accommodation and the barriers to securing permanent housing.

Experience of negotiating housing solutions and achieving positive outcomes for households.
