Lettings Officer
-
Salary up to £33,336 per annum, 37 hours per week
-
Benefits Include: hybrid working, company pension and private healthcare
We are looking for a proactive, customer-focused Lettings Officer to manage the lettings journey from the moment a tenancy ends through to the start of a new one. You will match the right home to the right customer, make fair and informed allocation decisions, and help establish sustainable tenancies from the outset.
Working across a designated geographical patch, you will balance the need to let homes promptly with careful assessment of suitability, affordability, eligibility and risk. You will work closely with customers, colleagues, Local Authorities and partner agencies to reduce avoidable void periods and support positive housing outcomes.
What you’ll do
-
Own each case from receipt of a tenancy termination notice through to the start of the next tenancy.
-
Assess applicants against eligibility, allocation criteria, affordability, household circumstances and housing need.
-
Identify potential tenancy risks and coordinate information, advice, support or referrals before sign-up.
-
Advertise homes, assess nominations, arrange viewings and coordinate with the Voids Team to achieve timely re-letting.
-
Prepare tenancy agreements and sign-up documents, complete statutory and compliance checks, and maintain accurate audit trails.
What you’ll bring
-
Experience in housing, lettings, allocations, property management or a customer-facing environment.
-
Knowledge of housing allocations and lettings principles, including affordability and pre-tenancy assessments.
-
Confidence handling sensitive or complex situations and making objective, evidence-based decisions.
-
Strong customer service, communication, organisation and record-keeping skills.
-
The ability to manage competing priorities, take ownership and progress cases through to completion.
-
A collaborative approach and the ability to build effective relationships with customers, colleagues and partner agencies.
A full driving licence is essential for this role.
