Assistant Acoustic Consultant
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000
An established and growing environmental consultancy is looking to appoint an Assistant Acoustic Consultant to join its Birmingham team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with a background in Physics, Mathematics or a closely related numerical/scientific discipline who has developed a genuine interest in acoustics and would like to build a long-term career within the industry.
You do not need previous acoustic consultancy experience. The successful candidate will receive support and training from experienced consultants while gaining hands-on exposure to a broad variety of environmental and acoustic projects across the UK.
The Role
Working alongside experienced acoustic consultants, you will gradually develop your technical knowledge and take responsibility for a variety of project work.
Your duties will include:
Assisting with environmental noise surveys and assessments
Undertaking noise monitoring duties
Travelling to client sites and project locations across the UK
Setting up, collecting and analysing acoustic monitoring equipment and data
Supporting noise impact assessments for residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure developments
Assisting with acoustic calculations and acoustic modelling
Preparing technical reports and presenting findings clearly
Reviewing planning information, site layouts and relevant noise guidanceAs your experience develops, you will be encouraged to take greater ownership of projects and develop your expertise across different areas of acoustics.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you should have:
A degree in Physics, Mathematics or a closely related scientific/numerical subject
A genuine interest in acoustics, sound, noise and environmental consultancy
A full UK driving licence
Willingness to travel to sites when requiredPrevious experience within acoustics is not essential, although any university modules, projects or practical experience involving acoustics, sound, vibration, signal processing, data analysis or environmental science would be advantageous.
