We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive education environment, working with learners who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams to provide tailored support for learners with a range of additional needs. You will help remove barriers to learning, promote independence, and support students to fully engage with their educational programmes and wider college life.
Key duties include:
- Supporting learners within classroom and practical learning environments.
- Encouraging independence, confidence and self-advocacy skills.
- Assisting with the implementation of individual support plans and EHCP outcomes.
- Providing personal care, mobility and wellbeing support where required.
- Supporting learners to access specialist equipment and assistive technologies.
- Working closely with curriculum staff, support managers and external agencies.
- Promoting safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusive learning practices.
- Acting as a First Aider or undertaking First Aid training if required.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- A passion for supporting young people and adults with SEND.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with learners, staff and families.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work.
- Good IT skills.
- An understanding of safeguarding and inclusive learning practices.
- Level 2 Maths and English or a willingness to achieve these qualifications.
- A willingness to obtain a First Aid qualification if not already held.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting learners with SEND, autism, ADHD, learning difficulties or complex needs.
- Experience within a school, college, further education or support setting.
- Knowledge of EHCPs and person-centred support planning.
- Makaton, BSL or Sign-a-Long communication skills.
