We’re recruiting WCA Functional Assessors in Bristol, giving experienced healthcare professionals the opportunity to use their clinical skills in a completely different setting.
You’ll assess how an individual's health condition or disability affects their functional ability and capability for work, before producing clear, objective and evidence-based reports.

Active NMC or HCPC registration with no restrictions
At least 12 months of post-registration adult clinical experience
Full right to work in the UK — sponsorship is not availableNo previous Functional Assessor experience is required. You’ll receive fully paid training to help you transition into the role.
What’s on offer?
Salary: £42,000 increasing to £43,000 after 12 months
Location: Bristol
5% approval bonus following successful approval after training
Up to 10% annual performance and quality bonus
Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
No nights, weekends or bank holidays

Conducting telephone, video and face-to-face assessments
Reviewing medical evidence and supporting information
Exploring how health conditions affect an individual's functional ability
Applying clinical reasoning and professional judgement
Producing accurate, objective and evidence-based reports
Managing your own workload effectivelyThere’s no hands-on treatment, prescribing or traditional clinical caseload. Instead, you’ll use your existing clinical experience to assess, analyse information and produce high-quality reports.
What are we looking for? You’ll need:
Strong communication skills
Good report-writing ability
Excellent clinical reasoning
Confidence using IT systems
The ability to work independently
Active professional registration
