on 6 months rolling Contract, located in Newcastle offshore
Role Overview
The Offshore EHS Advisor is responsible for providing professional Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) support to offshore operations onboard the Service Operation Vessel (SOV). The role focuses on promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements, and supporting the safe execution of offshore activities.
The Offshore EHS Advisor works closely with technicians, supervisors, vessel management, and client representatives to identify risks, implement effective controls, and drive continuous improvement in EHS performance across all offshore operations.
Key Responsibilities
EHS Leadership & Support
Act as the primary offshore EHS focal point onboard the SOV.
Provide practical EHS advice and support to offshore technicians, supervisors, vessel crew, and management teams.
Promote a positive safety culture through visible leadership, engagement, coaching, and workforce interaction.
Support the implementation of company, client, and project-specific EHS requirements.
Risk Management & Assurance
Facilitate risk assessments, task reviews, toolbox talks, and pre-job planning activities.
Conduct workplace inspections, safety tours, observations, and assurance activities to verify compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
Monitor the effectiveness of critical controls associated with offshore and work-at-height activities.
Support the management of permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work where required.
Incident Management
Support the reporting, investigation, and follow-up of incidents, near misses, observations, and unsafe conditions.
Assist in identifying root causes and developing corrective and preventive actions.
Track and monitor actions to ensure timely closure and effectiveness.
Emergency Preparedness
Coordinate and support emergency response drills and exercises in line with project and vessel requirements.
Participate in emergency preparedness planning and response activities.
Provide guidance to ensure emergency arrangements remain effective and compliant.
Environmental Management
Support environmental compliance and promote good environmental practices onboard.
Monitor waste management, pollution prevention, spill control, and environmental reporting requirements.
Assist in the implementation of environmental improvement initiatives.
Reporting & Performance
Maintain accurate EHS records, inspection reports, and performance data.
Prepare weekly and monthly EHS reports and provide operational safety updates to management.
Monitor trends, identify emerging risks, and support the development of improvement plans.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Recognised Occupational Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent).
Valid GWO Basic Safety Training certification.
Previous offshore EHS experience within offshore wind, marine, oil and gas, or other offshore environments.
Experience supporting risk assessments, audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
Good understanding of UK offshore health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and EHS reporting systems.
Desirable
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent higher-level safety qualification.
Environmental management experience.
Internal auditor qualification.
Knowledge of G+, IMCA, RenewableUK, and client-specific standards.
Experience working onboard Service Operation Vessels within offshore wind projects.

Travel, Accommodation and Expenses
The Offshore EHS Advisor position is a rotational offshore role. The agreed daily rate is deemed to include all costs associated with travel and accommodation required to support planned offshore mobilisations and rotational duty periods.
As such, travel, accommodation, subsistence, mileage, and associated costs relating to planned crew changes, project rotations, and scheduled work activities are not reimbursable and shall not be claimed as expenses.
Where the Company requests unplanned travel, additional vessel calls, short-notice mobilisation, emergency response support, project meetings, training events, or other activities outside of the agreed rotation pattern, reasonable travel and accommodation costs may be reimbursed, subject to prior approval from the relevant manager.
Any reimbursable expenses must:
Be pre-approved where reasonably practicable.
Be supported by valid receipts or evidence of expenditure.
Be reasonable and proportionate to the business requirement.
