If you have experience using InfoWorks ICM to model wastewater or drainage networks, this is an opportunity to join one of the UK's established water modelling teams and work on major AMP8 programmes.
We are recruiting an Urban Drainage Modeller to join a growing Newcastle-based water team delivering wastewater modelling projects for major UK water companies.
The work covers some of the biggest challenges currently facing the water sector, including storm overflows, wastewater network performance, flood risk, water quality and environmental improvement.
What you'll be doing
You will work alongside engineers, modellers and environmental specialists on projects ranging from initial network investigation through to option development and design.
Your work will include:
Developing, verifying and maintaining hydraulic models using InfoWorks ICM
Modelling wastewater and urban drainage networks
Investigating network performance, flooding and capacity constraints
Supporting storm overflow and pollution reduction programmes
Analysing model outputs and identifying potential network improvements
Scenario testing and optioneering
Supporting water quality and environmental improvement projects
Producing technical analysis and recommendations for project teams and clients
Working across major UK water company frameworks and AMP8 programmes
You will have access to a large established modelling community, giving you the opportunity to work alongside experienced technical specialists while continuing to develop your own modelling capability.
What we're looking for
You don't need to tick every box, but you should have:
Experience in urban drainage, wastewater or sewer network modelling
Practical experience using InfoWorks ICM
An understanding of hydraulic modelling and wastewater network behaviour
A degree or equivalent background in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Geography or a related discipline
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience working with a UK water company, consultancy or AMP programme would be particularly useful.
Experience involving storm overflows, CSOs, flood investigations, water quality or wastewater network performance would also be advantageous.
