Job Title: CNC Sliding Head Engineer
Location: West Byfleet, Surrey
Reports To: Production Manager
Role Overview
Our client, a leading precision engineering company, is currently seeking a CNC Sliding Head Engineer to join their dynamic team. The candidate should possess prior experience in programming, setting and operating multi-axis Sliding Head machines.
While it would be beneficial to have experience using Star machines, it is not a mandatory requirement. Our client is looking for someone who is enthusiastic and willing to contribute to the team's growth.
The role will include:
⦁ Programming, setting and running Star Sliding Head lathes
⦁ Adjusting existing CNC programs to ensure accuracy and optimise efficiency
⦁ Programming of new jobs on and offline
⦁ Maintaining a level of self-inspection throughout a batch
⦁ Machining parts to tight tolerances with precision and accuracy
⦁ Working effectively as part of a team to achieve production goals and maintain a smooth workflow
⦁ Assisting the production staff in any other tasks that may be required to maintain production efficiency
⦁ Managing workflow/schedule of jobs
It is also essential that the applicant is happy to work on different machines depending on where they are required.
What our client is looking for:
⦁ Hands-on experience operating CNC Sliding Head machines, preferably Star machines
⦁ Understanding of machining principles, CNC machining techniques, and tool selection
⦁ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve machining issues
⦁ Keen attention to detail and accuracy to produce high-quality components meeting tight tolerances
⦁ Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve common goals
⦁ Enthusiasm and willingness to learn, take initiative and grow
⦁ Openness to new challenges and willingness to take on additional responsibilities
What our client offers:
⦁ Competitive rate of pay, depending on experience
⦁ Opportunities for overtime - the standard working week is 39 hours; overtime rate is 1.5x
⦁ Normal working hours are divided into two slots (staff can choose either):
⦁ 08:00 - 17:00 Monday to Thursday & 08:00 - 13:00 Friday
⦁ 07:30 - 16:30 Monday to Thursday & 07:30 - 12:30 Friday
⦁ 22 days holiday to start, with an extra day each year to a maximum of 25 days, plus Bank Holidays
⦁ Company Sick Pay Scheme
⦁ Attendance bonus - 10 hours at basic rate if no unauthorised absence is taken in every 3 months
