Overview of the Role
A BRPD Consultant job in Kensington, London, joining a specialist design compliance and building safety consultancy. The role will support the development of an established BRPD function, leading design compliance activities and coordinating multidisciplinary teams across a varied project portfolio.
Practice & Project Information
The consultancy provides regulatory, design and coordination services across commercial, residential, education, heritage and retail sectors. Based from a London studio, the team works on Building Regulations compliance, Building Safety Act requirements and Higher Risk Building projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead design compliance work across structure, fire safety, ventilation, energy, access and use
Co-lead the BRPD function, developing processes, templates and workflows
Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to maintain compliance and clear responsibilities
Complete compliance reviews, record assumptions and risks, and manage change control impacts
Support golden thread information, Gateway submissions and compliance statements where applicable
Advise clients and project teams on Building Regulations and Building Safety Act duties
Required Skills and Experience
Architectural or architectural technology background with design compliance or coordination experience
Direct experience of Building Regulations compliance, ideally supporting or acting in a Principal Designer (Building Regulations) role
Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, Approved Documents and the Building Safety Act regulatory regime
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and reviewing design information for compliance
Ability to interpret drawings, BIM models and specifications to identify compliance gaps
ARB/RIBA registration, Higher Risk Building experience and Revit/BIM knowledge are desirable
Benefits and Package
£50,000-£65,000 depending on experience. Flexible working with a minimum of 2 days per week in the London studio. 25 days holiday, Christmas shutdown and birthday off. Further progression opportunities, ongoing CPD and support for professional development and membership.
