Personal developmentDuties for the role of Assistant Town Planner:
Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications
Undertaking research into planning policy, legislation and guidance
Reviewing local and national planning policies and identifying their implications for development proposals
Assisting with planning appraisals and development feasibility assessments
Supporting the preparation of planning statements, reports and other technical documents
Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants, clients and other stakeholders
Monitoring planning applications and assisting with the management of project programmes
Attending meetings, site visits and planning committees where appropriateRequirements for the role of Assistant Town Planner:
RTPI Accredited degree within town planning or another related discipline
Relevant experience within a planning consultancy, local authority or related planning environment, although strong graduates will also be considered
An understanding of the UK planning system and relevant planning policy
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent research, analytical and organisational abilities
The ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines
Good attention to detail
Confidence communicating with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders
A proactive approach and willingness to learn
