CNC Machinist
We are recruiting for an experienced CNC Machinist to work for our client based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
The Role – CNC Machinist
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Machining tooling and forgings to specified engineering drawings.
- Manual turning and CNC machining, including both milling and turning.
- Operating and understanding Fanuc controls.
- Producing high-precision components to tight tolerances.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Carrying out basic maintenance on CNC machinery.
- Using a range of precision measuring equipment, including:
- Micrometers
- Vernier calipers
- Wall thickness meters
- Surface roughness gauges
Essential Experience & Skills
- A minimum of 5 years' experience working within a high-precision manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes.
- Experience with Fanuc controls.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Excellent communication skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Qualifications & Additional Skills
- Apprentice trained in Mechanical Manufacturing or an equivalent qualification.
- Forklift licence to RTITB, ITSSAR, or another nationally accredited qualification – advantageous.
- Overhead crane/lifting certification – advantageous.
Working Hours
Permanent, full-time position
The role operates on a 3-week rotating shift pattern, averaging 42 hours per week.
Week 1 – Nights
Sunday – Night
Monday – Night
Tuesday – Night
Wednesday – Night
Week 2 – Days & Nights
Monday – Day
Tuesday – Day
Thursday – Night
Friday – Night (6 hours)
Week 3 – Days
Wednesday – Day
Thursday – Day
Friday – Day
Pay
£15.92 – £16.77 per hour + 22% shift premium
