HSB Technical is working with one of the largest and most innovative marine companies on the South Coast. Due to continued growth, our client is looking to recruit an Indirect Buyer to join its expanding Procurement team.
Typically, this person will source and manage the goods and services that support day-to-day business operations. Categories will include facilities, leasing agreements, HR support, marketing and smaller outsourced services.
Facilities procurement experience is particularly important for this position. The successful candidate will establish supplier contracts, negotiate commercial terms and monitor supplier performance, working closely with stakeholders across the business.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage indirect purchasing across facilities, leasing, HR support, marketing and smaller outsourced service requirements.
Take a leading role in facilities procurement, sourcing suitable providers for maintenance, servicing and other site support requirements.
Work with department managers to define requirements, budgets and service expectations.
Identify, assess and onboard suppliers and service providers.
Prepare and manage requests for quotation, tenders and supplier selection exercises.
Negotiate pricing, leasing arrangements, service levels and contractual terms.
Set up supplier contracts with clear scopes, responsibilities, performance measures and renewal dates.
Monitor supplier performance against agreed service levels, quality, cost and delivery expectations.
Address supplier performance issues and coordinate corrective action with internal stakeholders.
Manage contract renewals and review opportunities to improve value and service.
Support smaller outsourcing projects from initial requirement through to supplier appointment and delivery.
Maintain accurate supplier, contract and purchasing records using ERP systems and Excel.
Ensure purchasing activity follows internal approval processes and procurement policies. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience in indirect procurement or a comparable buying role.
Strong facilities procurement experience, including sourcing and managing facilities service providers.
Experience purchasing HR support and marketing services.
Experience negotiating or managing leasing agreements.
A track record of setting up, managing and renewing supplier contracts.
Experience monitoring supplier performance and resolving service delivery issues.
Experience handling smaller outsourced service requirements.
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to assess costs, commercial terms and supplier proposals.
Good Excel skills and experience using purchasing or ERP systems.
Confident communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders across several departments.
A proactive, organised approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and take ownership.
A procurement or supply chain qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience within a marine, engineering or technical business would be advantageous. This position would suit a commercially aware Indirect Buyer who can build effective supplier relationships, challenge costs and ensure business support services deliver value. The ability to plan ahead and keep supplier agreements and service arrangements running effectively will be essential.
