An established Electrical & Security Building Services contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Estimator or Senior Electrical Estimator to join its Pre-Construction team in East London.
This is an opportunity to join a smaller, collaborative business where your experience will be valued, your contribution will be visible and you will have direct access to the Directors. You will take ownership of tenders, work closely with experienced colleagues and contribute to the continued development of the estimating function.
The business works with longstanding clients across London and the wider South East, delivering projects within commercial buildings, healthcare, education, universities, research facilities and public-sector environments.
The workload combines established term contracts and repeat-client enquiries with fully specified and Design & Build projects. Electrical tender values range from approximately £10,000 through to £1 million+, offering variety across smaller works and more substantial projects.

The Opportunity
You will manage electrical tenders from initial enquiry through to submission, supporting post-tender discussions and the handover of successful projects to the delivery team.
Your responsibilities will include:

Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation to establish the scope of works

Producing detailed electrical take-offs and accurate cost estimates

Building labour, material, plant and subcontract allowances

Obtaining, evaluating and negotiating supplier, wholesaler and subcontractor quotations

Preparing commercially competitive tender submissions, including qualifications and exclusions

Identifying scope gaps, commercial risks, buildability issues and value-engineering opportunities

Attending site surveys, tender meetings and client discussions where required
You will work closely with the wider Pre-Construction team, Electrical and Security Project Managers, Directors, clients and the supply chain.
There is also scope to contribute ideas and improvements to estimating software, systems and internal processes, drawing on your experience to help develop the function.
About You
We are looking for proven Electrical Building Services estimating experience and the confidence to manage tenders with a good degree of independence.
You should bring:

Relevant estimating experience within an Electrical or M&E Building Services contractor

Strong ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications and tender documentation

A practical understanding of electrical installations and labour, material, plant and subcontract costs

Experience obtaining and negotiating supplier, wholesaler and subcontractor quotations

Commercial awareness, attention to detail and the ability to identify risk and value-engineering opportunities

The organisation and communication skills to manage several tenders, deadlines and client requirements simultaneously
Experience using Eque2 Evaluate would be advantageous, although candidates with strong experience using comparable electrical estimating software are equally welcome.
An Electrical City & Guilds or NVQ qualification would be beneficial. Relevant 18th Edition, HNC qualifications or strong BS7671 knowledge would also be useful. CCTV or Security systems experience is advantageous but is not essential.
