Job Purpose
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Purchasing Department for a Direct Buyer to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Purchasing Controller, this position will be responsible for driving purchasing performance, developing supplier partnerships, negotiating best value agreements, and ensuring materials are procured efficiently to support operational and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate and manage Requests for Quotation and tender analysis
- Perform data analysis and issue reports on supplier performance ensuring achievement of KPI’s
- Spend control of direct budget, monitor spend and highlight variances
- Develop and improve supplier relationships and performance, with the goal of improving QDC performance for all bought in production components
- Deliver cost down initiatives in support of company cost reduction activity
- Lead cost reduction activity across the supply base
- Lead new model introduction for all bought in items
- Manage Process and design change activities from feasibility through to completion
- To ensure that all work is completed in line with company policies and procedures
- Any other duties as requested to assist in the effective management of the department
- To ensure that all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures are followed to ensure a safe working environment
- To advise management of any safety, health or environmental concerns immediately and where possible will take action to reduce risk of harm
Skills & Competencies
- CIP’s qualified or a minimum of 3 years Purchasing experience
- Ideally, you should possess the ability to work safely, efficiently and accurately to prioritise workload
- Self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative
- Flexible attitude to challenges and change is essential
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with strong negotiation skills and attention to detail
- PC literate with experience using Microsoft office and demonstrable Excel skills
- Attention to detail with ability to analyse data and present information to various levels with the business
