Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Estimator / Cost Engineer on behalf of our client based in Alton on a permanent basis.
Roles & Responsibilities

Review technical engineering drawings and prepare detailed cost estimates for high-precision engineering components and assemblies.

Calculate project costs, including materials, labour, equipment and subcontractor pricing.

Manage the end-to-end tendering process, including bid preparation, proposal writing and submission.

Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal departments to obtain competitive pricing and delivery timescales.

Support the sourcing and purchasing of components for engineering builds.

Monitor expenditure, forecast production capacity and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency.

Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to achieve competitive pricing.

Plan and manage workload to meet strict deadlines and project requirements.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications

Experienced Mechanical Engineer with a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent skills and experience.

Minimum of 5 years' purchasing experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and a good understanding of GD&T.

Knowledge of manufacturing processes, raw material specifications and costing methodologies.

Strong commercial awareness, negotiation and numerical skills.

Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and methodical approach.
Hours - Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm.
Salary - Competitive, dependent on experience.
