Compliance Advisor salary: £39,500 – £43,750

Compliance Advisor Overview:
✅ Take day-to-day ownership of ISO, audit, policy and compliance processes
✅ Support ISO 27001 and ISO 14001 management systems and external audit readiness
✅ Manage controlled documentation, policy reviews and compliance records
✅ Investigate customer complaints and track corrective actions through to closure
✅ Work closely with operational teams to make sure compliance reflects how the business actually runs
This Compliance Advisor role is with an established business in Poole, supporting the development and day-to-day management of its compliance framework. The Compliance Advisor will work closely with the Head of SHE and Compliance, taking ownership of ISO systems, audits, documentation, customer complaints, policies and formal reporting. This is not a general administration role and would suit someone with existing compliance, governance, quality or risk experience who is comfortable working across both systems and operational teams.
The Compliance Advisor role
As Compliance Advisor, you’ll maintain core compliance processes while also spending time with employees and managers to understand how procedures operate in practice. The role requires someone who can review evidence, question processes, identify gaps and make sure actions are followed through properly.
There are no line management responsibilities, but the Compliance Advisor will have ownership of key systems, registers and processes, with scope to develop further as the wider compliance function grows.
Day-to-day responsibilities of a Compliance Advisor
Maintain documentation supporting ISO 27001 and ISO 14001 management systems
Coordinate internal audit schedules and carry out audits where required
Support external audits, accreditation activity and ongoing audit readiness
Track corrective and preventive actions through to completion
Maintain the compliance calendar covering audits, renewals and policy reviews
Manage controlled documents, version control, registers and supporting evidence
Coordinate policy reviews and keep procedures current and accurate
Investigate customer complaints and coordinate actions across relevant departments
Draft complaint responses, investigation summaries and compliance reports
Analyse complaint, audit and compliance trends to identify recurring issues
Maintain records and evidence required for governance and certification purposes
Spend time with operational teams to ensure documented processes reflect actual working practices
Escalate significant non-conformities, risks or overdue actions appropriatelyWhat they’re looking for - Compliance Advisor
Previous experience in Compliance, Governance, Quality, Risk or a similar discipline
Working knowledge of ISO management systems
Experience with ISO 27001 and/or ISO 14001
Comfortable managing controlled documentation and version control
Experience supporting or carrying out internal audits
Able to investigate complaints, non-conformities or compliance issues
Experience reviewing and updating policies and procedures
Strong written communication and report-writing ability
Confident speaking with employees and managers across different departments
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Able to manage multiple actions, deadlines and priorities independently
Good Microsoft Office skills, including Word and ExcelDesirable - Compliance Advisor
Internal ISO Auditor qualification
Experience within manufacturing, logistics, automotive, recycling, waste or another operational environment
Experience using SharePoint, Ceequel or another compliance/document management system
Exposure to external certification audits
Experience producing audit, complaint or compliance trend reports
Knowledge of additional standards such as ISO 9001 or ISO 45001
