Location: Stoke-on-Trent, North Staffordshire
Rate: Up to £17 per hour
Hours: Monday-Thursday 7am-5pm, with Friday, Saturday and Sunday overtime available
Marmon Lift Recruitment is working with an established manufacturing business seeking an experienced Manual / Conventional Machinist to join their machining team in Stoke-on-Trent, North Staffordshire.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practical and hands-on machinist to join an established manufacturing environment, working with manual lathes, preferably XYZ, and producing components accurately to engineering drawings and required specifications.
This role suits someone with a solid manufacturing background who is confident working independently, solving problems and maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
Manual Machinist Responsibilities:
Operate manual / conventional lathes, preferably XYZ
Read and interpret engineering drawings
Produce components accurately to required specifications and tolerances
Carry out quality checks and identify any issues during production
Measure finished components using appropriate inspection equipment
Diagnose and resolve machining and production problems
Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment
Work independently while contributing effectively as part of the wider manufacturing team
Support continuous improvement and contribute ideas for improving processes and efficiency
The Ideal Manual Machinist:
Previous experience in a manual / conventional machining environment - ESSENTIAL
Experience using a manual lathe - ESSENTIAL
Experience with XYZ lathes - PREFERRED
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings - ESSENTIAL
Solid manufacturing background - ESSENTIAL
Hands-on and proactive attitude with a strong team spirit - ESSENTIAL
Ability to work independently and under pressure - ESSENTIAL
Strong practical problem-solving skills - ESSENTIAL
Good understanding of machining processes, measurements and tolerances - ESSENTIAL
Hours & Overtime:
Monday-Thursday: 7am-5pm
Friday: Overtime available
Saturday: Overtime available
Sunday: Overtime available
Pay: Up to £17 per hour, depending on experience
