Our client, a prominent organisation in the public services sector, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Freedom of Information Officer to join their team in Winfrith. Role Overview:
As a Freedom of Information Officer, the successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000 and the Environment Information Regulations (EIR) 2004. This temporary full-time 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm, this position offers a competitive hourly rate of £14.10 per hour, with an end date of May 2027.
Key Responsibilities:
Process FOIA and EIR requests, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and organisational policy.
Access various Force systems and information sources to facilitate informed decision-making regarding information disclosure.
Evaluate requests on a case-by-case basis and determine whether to supply the requested information, considering legal constraints.
Draught clear and concise correspondence that communicates decisions and justifications, ensuring transparency and public understanding.
Maintain comprehensive and auditable records of all applications, including decisions made and rationales for non-disclosure when applicable.
Deliver training sessions on the Freedom of Information Act to enhance organisational knowledge.
Serve as a single point of contact for both Forces, providing exemplary customer service and advice regarding FOIA and EIR compliance.
Stay updated on legislative developments related to information disclosure.Essential Criteria:
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:
A formal qualification in Freedom of Information or a commitment to obtain one.
In-depth knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environment Information Regulations 2004.
Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to draught well-structured letters and reports.
Proven customer care skills and a commitment to providing excellent service.
Strong research abilities and effective decision-making skills.
Capability to manage a challenging workload independently.
Proficiency in manipulating databases and using MS Office, particularly Word.Competency Values:
