Yard Operative
Location: Brentwood, Essex
Contract: 3 Months Fixed-Term (with potential for permanent employment)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 16:00 (flexibility required)
Rate: £13.00 - £15.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Overview We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Yard Operative to join a busy construction and civil engineering business in Brentwood.
This is a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day operation of the yard, ensuring materials, equipment, and plant are maintained, organised, and available for site teams.
This is initially a 3-month contract with the possibility of a permanent position for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Loading and unloading deliveries safely and efficiently.
Organising and maintaining the yard, storage areas, and welfare facilities.
Preparing materials, tools, and equipment for site projects.
Carrying out stock checks and reporting shortages.
Assisting with the movement of plant and machinery within the yard.
Maintaining a clean, safe, and tidy working environment.
Inspecting equipment and reporting defects or damage.
Supporting drivers and site teams with material collections and deliveries.
Following all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Undertaking general labouring and yard duties as required.Requirements
Previous experience in a yard, construction, builders merchant, warehouse, or civils environment.
Good understanding of Health & Safety practices.
Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Full UK Driving Licence preferred.Desirable
Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
Construction or Civil Engineering industry experience.
CSCS Card.
Experience operating small plant or equipment.What We Offer
