anzuk Education is recruiting an Attendance & Student Support Officer on behalf of a college in Islington. This permanent opportunity would suit an organised, approachable individual who enjoys working with young people and can balance accurate administration with supportive communication.
The role
Working closely with the Attendance Manager, pastoral team and reception staff, you will help monitor attendance, follow up absences and support student wellbeing.
Your responsibilities will include:

Recording and monitoring daily attendance and punctuality using Arbor, ensuring lesson registers are completed.

Managing absence calls, messages and emails from parents and carers, and following up unexplained absences.

Maintaining accurate student records, identifying attendance patterns and preparing reports for senior staff.

Liaising with tutors and pastoral colleagues to support students with attendance or welfare concerns.

Acting as a welcoming point of contact for students, escalating concerns to the appropriate staff.

Supporting attendance interventions and communicating professionally with parents and carers.

Providing reception cover, assisting with student ID checks and printing ID cards.

Setting up and supporting registers for interventions, clubs, trips and college events.

Supporting supervision of social spaces and library study sessions to encourage attendance and engagement.
About you
We are looking for someone who:

Has experience working in an educational setting, ideally in attendance, administration or student support.

Is highly organised, accurate and confident managing a busy workload.

Communicates warmly and professionally with students, families and colleagues.

Is confident using Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, particularly Google Sheets or Excel.

Has familiarity with school management information systems; experience using Arbor would be beneficial.

Handles confidential information sensitively and exercises sound judgement when raising concerns.

Shares a commitment to student wellbeing, safeguarding and creating a supportive learning environment.
