Job Title: Admissions and Attendance Officer

Teaching Consultancy is working with a welcoming and inclusive [primary/secondary] school in Newham to recruit an organised and proactive Admissions and Attendance Officer. This is a key role at the heart of the school office, helping pupils settle in smoothly and making sure every child is in school and ready to learn.
The role

Manage the full admissions process, including in-year admissions, liaising with parents and the Local Authority

Maintain accurate pupil records on the school's MIS (e.g. SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom)

Monitor daily attendance, follow up on absences and make first-day contact calls to parents/carers

Identify attendance patterns and flag concerns to the Attendance Lead and Designated Safeguarding Lead

Prepare attendance reports and data for the Senior Leadership Team and statutory returns

Support attendance meetings, letters, parenting contracts and Local Authority referrals

Arrange welcome meetings and induction for new pupils and families

Provide general administrative support to the school office
The ideal candidate will have

Experience in a school admissions, attendance or school office role (preferred)

Confident use of a school MIS and Microsoft Office

Excellent communication skills and a warm, professional manner with families

Strong organisational skills and a keen eye for accuracy

An understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality

Knowledge of DfE attendance guidance (desirable)

Additional languages spoken in the local community would be an advantage
