BSL Specialist - Stoke-on-Trent
We are currently recruiting an experienced BSL Specialist to support a specialist education setting in the Stoke-on-Trent area.
We are looking for a confident and experienced professional who can use British Sign Language (BSL) to support pupils with hearing impairments and communication needs, helping them access learning and engage effectively within the school environment.
Key responsibilities include:
🤝 Supporting pupils with their day-to-day communication and learning
🗣️ Using BSL effectively to facilitate communication between pupils and staff
📚 Supporting access to lessons and educational activities
💬 Helping develop pupils' communication and confidence
👩🏫 Working closely with teachers and the wider SEND team
🧩 Adapting communication approaches to meet individual needs
📋 Supporting individual education and communication plans
We are particularly interested in candidates with previous experience working within SEND or specialist education, alongside strong BSL communication skills and an understanding of the needs of deaf or hearing-impaired pupils.
