About the Role
City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking a highly organised and customer-focused Business Support Administrator to join our Families Business Support Team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, providing high-quality administrative and financial support while making a positive contribution to services that support children, families, and communities across Wolverhampton.
Reporting to the Business Support Team Leader, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of Business Support Units, delivering efficient administrative services and excellent customer care to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
As a Business Support Administrator, you will:
Act as a first point of contact for enquiries, providing excellent customer service.
Provide comprehensive administrative support across Business Support Units.
Support meetings by arranging venues, coordinating attendees, producing agendas, and taking accurate minutes.
Process financial transactions and assist with budget administration.
Order goods, equipment, stationery, and resources, including using the Council's PCARD purchasing system.
Monitor and reconcile financial transactions.
Manage incoming and outgoing post, shared mailboxes, scanning, and document management.
Prepare professional reports, correspondence, presentations, training materials, and conference documentation.
Support recruitment and interview processes.
Track and coordinate Freedom of Information requests.
Maintain accurate records and update service databases.
Liaise effectively with colleagues, partner agencies, and members of the public.
Contribute to service improvements and support agile working practices.
Assist with health and safety responsibilities, including emergency procedures and workplace inspections.
About You
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

✅ Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
✅ Experience supporting meetings and taking minutes
✅ Good ICT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

✅ Experience managing complex workloads in a busy environment
✅ Strong record-keeping and information management skills
