Are you an experienced Behaviour Specialist with a passion for supporting young people who may struggle within a traditional classroom environment?
We are seeking a confident, resilient and experienced Behaviour Specialist to join a secondary school in the Preston area on a full-time basis. This role will focus on supporting pupils outside of the mainstream classroom, helping them to manage their behaviour, re-engage with their education and make positive progress.
The Role
As a Behaviour Specialist, you will work closely with pupils who may display challenging behaviour or require additional support with their social, emotional and behavioural needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing dedicated support to pupils outside of the classroom
Working with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
Supporting pupils who are struggling to engage with mainstream lessons
Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
Helping pupils develop strategies to manage their behaviour and emotions
Supporting the successful reintegration of pupils back into lessons where appropriate
Managing challenging situations calmly and effectively
Working alongside teaching staff, pastoral teams and senior leaders
Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement and attendance
The Successful Candidate
Previous experience is essential for this position. We would particularly like to hear from candidates who have experience working within:
Secondary schools
Behaviour or inclusion units
Alternative provision
Pupil referral units (PRUs)
SEND or SEMH settings
Youth work or other relevant behaviour-focused environments
You will need to be confident, patient and resilient, with strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build rapport with secondary-aged pupils.
