Turnaround Family Worker
Location: Station Road Centre, Barkingside, Ilford
Contract: Agency / Interim – Maternity Cover
Hours: 36 hours per week
Service: Youth Justice & Targeted Prevention
The London Borough of Redbridge is seeking an experienced and passionate Turnaround Family Worker to join its Youth Justice & Targeted Prevention Service on a temporary maternity cover basis.
This is an opportunity to work directly with children, young people and families experiencing complex challenges, providing intensive support and interventions to prevent offending, reduce anti-social behaviour and achieve positive, sustainable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Undertake holistic family assessments and identify support needs.

Develop and deliver tailored intervention and support plans.

Deliver parenting interventions on a one-to-one, family and group basis.

Act as the Responsible Officer for Parenting Orders.

Provide practical and emotional support to children, young people and families.

Work with social care, education, health, police, probation and community partners.

Identify safeguarding concerns and take appropriate action.

Promote resilience, independence and positive behavioural change.

Maintain accurate case records and contribute to Youth Justice assessments and planning.

Undertake direct work across homes, schools, community and youth justice settings.
About You
You will have significant experience working with children, young people and families, ideally within youth justice, targeted prevention or a similar setting.
You will have:

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Social Care, Counselling, Youth Work or a related field.

Experience undertaking family assessments and delivering interventions.

Knowledge of child development, challenging behaviour and family dynamics.

Experience working within a multi-agency environment.

Strong communication, relationship-building and case-recording skills.

Knowledge of Parenting Orders and youth justice interventions.
-
A commitment to safeguarding, equality and anti-discriminatory practice.

Full UK driving licence.
Desirable: Experience with evidence-based parenting programmes such as Triple P or Strengthening Families, alongside knowledge of restorative and trauma-informed approaches.
Enhanced DBS clearance is required. Flexible working, including evenings and occasional weekends, may be required.
Mandatory: Must have a UK Passport or a Full Right to Work in the UK
