Our client is a leading UK civil engineering and infrastructure contractor with an established reputation for delivering complex infrastructure, groundworks and civil engineering projects across a range of sectors. Due to continued growth and an expanding order book, they are seeking an experienced Business Development Director to drive their work-winning strategy and secure major projects nationwide.
This is a high-profile leadership role for an individual who can combine business development expertise with a strong understanding of pre-construction, estimating and project delivery.
The Role
As Business Development Director, you will take ownership of the complete work-winning process, leading opportunities from initial client engagement through to successful contract award and handover to delivery teams.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing the full cradle-to-grave work-winning cycle.
Building and maintaining strategic client relationships.
Identifying and securing new business opportunities across civil engineering and infrastructure markets.
Leading bid management and tender submissions.
Managing and delivering ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) and PCSA (Pre-Construction Services Agreement) engagements.
Working closely with estimating, commercial and operational teams to develop winning solutions.
Ensuring a seamless transition from pre-construction to project delivery.
Supporting the company's long-term growth and market expansion plans.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
A proven track record in business development, tendering, estimating and/or project delivery within civil engineering.
Experience managing the full bid and work-winning lifecycle.
Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering, groundworks and infrastructure projects.
Experience leading ECI and PCSA engagements.
Excellent client-facing, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
A strong commercial mindset with the ability to identify and convert opportunities into secured work.
Experience working within both self-delivery contractors and Tier 1 organisations would be highly advantageous.
