M&E Coordinator / M&E Manager / Building Services Coordinator / Building Services Manager – Leading Tier 1 Main Contractor – Manchester

One of the UK’s largest privately owned building main contractors, circa £1 billion turnover, working across a range of sectors including Education, Commercial, Healthcare and High Rise Residential.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to transfer their M&E experience into a main contractor environment or an already experienced main contractor M&E Coordinator / M&E Manager.
Initially working on a large multi million pound high rise residential project, this is also a great opportunity for long term local work in Manchester, with 3 years work on this local project alone and more north west regional work to follow.
Whilst previous multi storey residential project experience would be ideal its not essential and open to consider candidates also working in other project sectors.
Role:
As M&E Coordinator / M&E Manager your role will include:
Supporting the successful delivery of mechanical and electrical (M&E) services across all project stages, ensuring technical excellence, commercial control, and high‑quality execution.
Duties:
• Coordination of MEP Services - Coordinate mechanical, electrical, and public health installations to ensure seamless integration with architectural and structural elements.
• Programme and Interface Management - Plan and sequence MEP activities in line with the overall construction programme, identifying and managing service interfaces and constraints.
• Technical Review and Compliance - Review drawings, specifications, and submittals to confirm compliance with design intent, statutory requirements, and project standards.
• Design Development Support - Work with the Building Services Manager, design consultants, and specialist subcontractors to resolve technical queries and drive coordinated solutions.
• Quality Assurance - Monitor installation quality, ensuring workmanship meets specifications, approved drawings, and relevant industry standards.
• Buildability and Installation Coordination - Assess design details for buildability, highlight potential issues early, and support the development of practical installation solutions.
• MEP Clash Detection and Resolution - Participate in coordination workshops and utilise models/drawings to identify and resolve clashes before installation.
• Commissioning Support - Assist in planning and coordinating commissioning, witnessing, and sign‑off activities to ensure system performance meets project requirements.
•Technical Documentation Management - Maintain accurate records, ensure timely submission of technical documents, and track approvals, RFIs, and changes.
• Subcontractor Coordination - Liaise with MEP subcontractors, ensuring clear communication of requirements, timely progress, and adherence to project deliverables.
• Site Inspections and Progress Monitoring - Carry out regular inspections to monitor progress, verify compliance, and report issues to the Building Services Manager.
• Handover and Close‑Out Support - Support the delivery of O&M information, as-built documents, and commissioning data required for handover.
Requirements:
To be considered for this MEP Coordinator / Building Services Coordinator role you must meet the following criteria:
- Knowledge of Building Sector.
- Previous employment as a M&E Co-ordinator, Building Services Coordinator, M&E Manager, Building Services Manager or Mechanical Design Engineer, Mechanical Designer, Project Engineer, M&E Supervisor, M&E Project Manager or Graduate Engineer.
- Previous experience / knowledge in building sector projects such as Commercial, Mixed Use, Residential, Apartment Blocks, Student Accommodation, Hotels, Extra Care Housing, MOJ, Industrial, Education or Healthcare.
- Previous Main Contractor employment would be ideal but not essential, Engineering Consultancy and M&E Subcontractor backgrounds also considered.
- Good communication skills.
- Relevant industry qualification (Degree / HND / HNC etc).
