Are you a recent graduate looking to build a career in town planning?
We are currently working with a well-established and growing planning consultancy that is looking to appoint a Graduate Town Planner to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate who is keen to develop their planning knowledge, gain hands-on experience and work towards becoming a successful planning professional.
The Role
As a Graduate Town Planner, you will support the wider planning team across a varied portfolio of projects. You will gain exposure to both the technical and commercial aspects of planning, working alongside experienced planners and contributing to projects from initial research through to submission and determination.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications
Undertaking planning policy and site research
Supporting the preparation of planning appraisals and reports
Liaising with local planning authorities and other stakeholders
Assisting with planning statements and supporting documentation
Monitoring planning applications and keeping clients updated
Attending site visits, meetings and planning discussions
Keeping up to date with changes to planning policy and legislation
Supporting senior members of the team across a range of planning projects
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Planning and Development or a related discipline
A genuine interest in pursuing a career within the planning profession
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good research and analytical abilities
Excellent attention to detail and organisation
The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
A proactive, positive and commercially aware approach
The confidence to work both independently and as part of a wider teamPrevious planning experience is desirable but not essential. The key requirement is enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and a genuine ambition to develop within the planning profession.
