Associate Scientist, Synthetic Chemistry
Proclinical is working alongside a growing biopharmaceutical organisation is seeking an Associate Scientist to join its expanding synthetic chemistry and drug discovery team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career synthetic chemist, organic chemist or chemistry graduate to gain industry experience supporting the discovery of novel small-molecule medicines. Previous medicinal chemistry experience is not essential.
Location: Cambridge, UK
Sector: Pharmaceutical | Drug Discovery | Small Molecule Research
Working Pattern: Laboratory-based (5 days per week)
Contract: 12 Months
Responsibilities
Synthesise and purify small-molecule compounds on milligram-to-gram scale
Support synthetic route design and optimisation
Use organic synthesis, chromatography and preparative HPLC techniques
Analyse and interpret NMR, LC-MS and HPLC data
Troubleshoot synthetic, purification and analytical challenges
Maintain accurate experimental records
Present results and collaborate with multidisciplinary scientists
Support safe and effective laboratory operations
Requirements
BSc or MSc in chemistry, organic chemistry, synthetic chemistry or a related discipline
Practical synthetic chemistry experience gained through employment, an industrial placement, internship or academic research project
Knowledge of organic synthesis and compound purification
Familiarity with NMR, LC-MS, HPLC or chromatography
Strong attention to detail, communication and teamwork skills
