Are you an experienced Cook looking for a rewarding role with excellent school-hour working times?
We are currently looking for a School Cook to join a welcoming school in Crewe, preparing fresh, nutritious and enjoyable meals for pupils and staff.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Cook looking for consistent Monday to Friday hours, working during the school day.
The Role
As the School Cook, you will be responsible for:
Preparing and cooking nutritious meals for pupils and staff.
Following menus and recipes while catering for different dietary requirements.
Preparing meals safely and ensuring all allergen requirements are followed.
Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and food presentation.
Ensuring food is stored and prepared safely.
Monitoring stock levels and minimising food waste.
Maintaining accurate food safety and allergen records.
Working closely with school staff to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen.
Creating a positive lunchtime experience for pupils.About You
We are looking for someone who:
Has previous experience working as a Cook, ideally within a school, nursery, care, restaurant, catering or similar environment.
Has a good understanding of food hygiene and safe food preparation.
Is confident following menus and recipes.
Has experience catering for dietary requirements and allergies.
Is organised, reliable and able to work independently.
Has a friendly and positive approach.
Enjoys working around children and young people.
Can work effectively as part of a team.
Takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen.Qualifications & Requirements
Essential:
Level 2 Food Safety in Catering / Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent.
Previous cooking or catering experience.
Good understanding of food hygiene, health and safety and allergen awareness.
Knowledge of safe food storage and preparation.
Ability to complete the required safeguarding and background checks.
Level 2 Allergen Awareness (Training can be provided)Desirable:
Previous experience working as a School Cook.
Catering qualification such as NVQ/SVQ in Hospitality and Catering, or equivalent City & Guilds Level 2 Professional Cookery.
Experience preparing meals for children and young people.
Experience catering for special diets and food allergies.Why Apply?
