Our client has an opportunity for a Workshop/Hand skills Trainer to join them on a permanent basis.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to make a lasting impact by mentoring and developing the next generation of Royal Navy engineers. You'll use your industry expertise to coach trainees, helping them build essential engineering hand skills and confidence within a structured learning environment.
This is a training-focused role, but prior teaching experience is not required. Full teacher training delivered on site and ongoing support will be provided to help you succeed-what matters most is your passion, enthusiasm, and ability to engage and inspire learners throughout their journey.
Role: Workshop/ Handskills Trainer
Location: Gosport - fully onsite
Hours: 37.5 hours per week - term time
Clearance: Must be eligible for SC
Salary: £39,000 pro-rata
What you'll be doing:
You will deliver high-quality training in Mechanical Craft and Fabrication, supporting trainees in developing core engineering competencies. This will include:
Introducing and developing practical hand skills, including fitting and filing
Teaching the interpretation and understanding of basic technical drawings
Providing instruction on the safe use of workshop equipment
Promoting and embedding strong workshop Health & Safety practices
Supporting trainees' progress through coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback
Essential Skills/experience:
A strong engineering background (mechanical or fabrication experience preferred)
Certified to a minimum of Level 3 or above
Practical workshop experience and confidence using hand tools and machinery
Be proficient in the use of IT (hardware/software)
This role is offered on a term time basis working 45 weeks per year, with non-working weeks taken 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter and 3 weeks in August. The salary will therefore be pro rata'd and calculated to include contractual annual leave entitlement and bank holidays.
