North Northamptonshire Council is seeking an experienced Repairs Officer to support the delivery of a responsive repairs and maintenance service across its housing portfolio.
Working within the Repairs & Maintenance Team, you will oversee day-to-day repairs operations, supervise trades operatives and contractors, carry out pre and post inspections, and ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with statutory requirements. You will play a key role in managing performance, maintaining compliance, and delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Manage responsive repairs, voids, planned maintenance, and compliance-related works.
Supervise in-house trades teams and external contractors.
Undertake pre and post inspections and maintain accurate records.
Prepare specifications, reports, and tender documentation.
Monitor contractor performance, budgets, and service delivery.
Ensure compliance with health and safety, asbestos, gas, electrical, and environmental legislation.
Support staff management, development, and performance monitoring.
Requirements
Experience within repairs, maintenance, housing, or construction services.
Knowledge of responsive repairs, void management, and contractor supervision.
Understanding of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
Experience managing operational teams and workloads.
Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
Local authority or social housing experience.
Experience with disrepair claims and contract management.
Budget management experience.
Technical qualifications related to building maintenance, gas, electrical, or asbestos works
