School Cook – Halifax
Location: Halifax
Salary: £19,754.31 per annum pro rata
Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–2:00pm
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
We are currently recruiting for a School Cook to join a school in Halifax on a permanent, term-time-only basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the school kitchen, preparing and serving nutritious meals for pupils and staff. This is a lone-working position, so the ability to work independently, manage your time effectively and maintain high standards is essential.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook healthy, nutritious meals for pupils and staff.

Plan and prepare menus in line with school food standards.

Cater for dietary requirements, allergies and special diets.

Ensure food is prepared, cooked and stored safely.

Complete food temperature, allergen and hygiene records.

Monitor stock levels and order food and kitchen supplies when required.

Check deliveries and ensure food is stored correctly.

Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen.

Clean and maintain kitchen equipment.

Manage the kitchen independently and organise the daily workload.

Follow all food hygiene, health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
Requirements

Previous experience working as a cook, ideally within a school, nursery, care or similar setting.

Good knowledge of food hygiene and food safety.

Food Hygiene Level 2 would be advantageous.

Understanding of allergens and special dietary requirements.

Ability to prepare healthy and nutritious meals.

Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.

Reliable, punctual and well organised.

Positive attitude and good communication skills.

Confident working independently as a lone worker.
What We Offer
