The Role
We are currently recruiting for an EHS II professional to join a regulated manufacturing site in Ashton in Makerfield.
This is a hands-on opportunity for an EHS professional looking to develop their career within a manufacturing or industrial environment. You will support the site with day-to-day Environmental, Health & Safety activities, helping to maintain compliance, improve standards and promote a positive safety culture.
Working closely with site management and operational teams, you will assist with inspections, audits, training, incident investigations and environmental responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities

Support the implementation and maintenance of site Environmental, Health & Safety procedures.

Carry out regular workplace inspections, safety checks and audits.

Assist with incident, accident and near-miss investigations and follow up corrective actions.

Support risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe working procedures.

Assist with EHS training, toolbox talks and employee awareness initiatives.

Help monitor compliance with UK Health & Safety and environmental legislation.

Support the maintenance of ISO 14001 and other relevant management systems.

Assist with environmental permits, waste management and regulatory requirements.

Monitor waste segregation and support improvements in environmental performance.

Work with employees and contractors to ensure site safety standards are maintained.

Maintain accurate EHS records, reports and documentation.

Identify hazards and recommend practical actions to reduce workplace risk.

Support continuous improvement initiatives across Health, Safety and Environmental performance.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous experience in an EHS, HSE, QHSE or Health & Safety role.

Experience within a manufacturing, industrial, chemical or process environment would be advantageous.

A good understanding of workplace Health & Safety principles.

Knowledge of risk assessments, incident reporting and workplace inspections.

Good awareness of environmental responsibilities, including waste management.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.

A proactive approach to identifying and resolving safety issues.

The confidence to communicate with employees, contractors and management.
-
A willingness to learn and develop within an EHS career.
Desirable
-
NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent.
-
IOSH qualification.

Experience working within a COMAH or other regulated manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of ISO 14001 or environmental management systems.

Experience with COSHH, risk assessments and incident investigations.
