Electrical Estimator | Building Services | East London | £65,000–£75,000 + Benefits
Term Contracts & Design & Build | Tenders to £1m | Close-Knit Team | Career Development
A long-established and highly respected Electrical & Security Building Services contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Estimator to join its successful Pre-Construction team in East London.
The business has been operating for around 50 years, developing from its family-run roots into a highly respected SME with longstanding client relationships and an excellent reputation for delivering reliable electrical and security services across London and the wider South East.
Its varied portfolio covers commercial buildings, healthcare, education, universities, research facilities, public-sector environments, sports facilities and other specialist premises. The company also holds established term contracts for Electrical and Security services, providing the estimating team with a genuine mixture of repeat-client opportunities, fully specified tenders and Design & Build projects.
Electrical tender values range from smaller works through to approximately £1 million, giving the successful candidate plenty of variety without becoming one small part of a large corporate estimating department.
Just as importantly, this is a close-knit and experienced business where people work collaboratively, have access to senior decision-makers and are trusted to take genuine ownership of their work. The successful candidate will join an established team of Estimators and Project Managers, with the opportunity to contribute directly to the continued development of the estimating function and grow with the business over the longer term.
The Opportunity
As Electrical Estimator, you will manage electrical tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission and successful project handover.
Your role will include:
-
Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
-
Producing detailed electrical take-offs and quantifying labour, materials and plant
-
Obtaining and evaluating supplier, wholesaler and subcontractor quotations
-
Preparing accurate and commercially competitive tender submissions
-
Identifying buildability risks, value-engineering opportunities and potential cost savings
-
Attending site surveys, tender meetings and client discussions where required
-
Supporting the implementation and continued development of estimating software and internal processes
You will work closely with the wider Pre-Construction team, Electrical and Security Project Managers, Directors, clients and the supply chain, giving you genuine visibility and involvement throughout the tender process.

We are looking for an experienced electrical estimator who can operate with a good degree of independence and brings strong knowledge of the Electrical Building Services sector.
You should have:

Proven estimating experience within an Electrical or M&E Building Services contractor
-
Strong experience interpreting electrical drawings, specifications and tender documentation
-
Good knowledge of labour, material, plant and subcontract costs
-
Experience negotiating with suppliers, wholesalers and subcontractors
-
Strong commercial awareness, attention to detail and value-engineering capability
-
The confidence to manage multiple tenders, deadlines and client requirements
-
A sound understanding of electrical regulations and Building Services installations
Experience using Eque2 Evaluate would be particularly advantageous, although candidates with strong experience using comparable electrical estimating software will also be considered.
An Electrical City & Guilds or NVQ qualification is preferred. 18th Edition, HNC and strong BS7671 knowledge would also be beneficial, while CCTV or Security systems experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
What’s on Offer?
-
£65,000–£75,000 basic salary
-
24 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
-
JIB healthcare scheme
-
Fixed Christmas bonus subject to company conditions
-
Laptop, IT equipment and mobile phone
-
Supportive and experienced Pre-Construction team
