Role Overview
AMLR are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our estimating team. The successful candidate will support the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates and quotations for projects, while developing their knowledge and experience within the estimating and engineering industry.

Key Responsibilities for Junior Estimator:
- Assist with preparing cost estimates and quotations for engineering/manufacturing projects.
- Review customer drawings, specifications, and enquiries to understand requirements.
- Calculate costs for materials, labour, machining, fabrication, assembly, and subcontract services.
- Obtain and compare supplier/subcontractor quotations.
- Liaise with production, engineering, purchasing, and sales teams to establish accurate costs.
- Assist with Bill of Materials (BOMs) and material requirements.
- Research material prices and manufacturing processes.
- Enter and maintain pricing information using Excel and estimating/ERP systems.
- Prepare quotation documents and ensure they are submitted within customer deadlines.
- Review previous projects and historical costs to improve estimating accuracy.
- Help identify potential cost savings and manufacturing efficiencies.
- Maintain accurate records of quotations and follow up on outstanding enquiries.
- Develop an understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing methods.
- Support senior estimators with more complex tenders and projects.
Skills & Experience for Junior Estimator
- Engineering or manufacturing experience, even if you haven't worked as an estimator.
- Ability to read and understand technical/engineering drawings.
- Good numeracy and attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes such as fabrication, welding, sheet metal, assembly, etc.
- Good Excel/IT skills.
- Ability to work with costs, quantities and pricing.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Commercial awareness and willingness to learn.
Qualifications
A relevant qualification in engineering or manufacturing would be advantageous
