An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Planner to come and join a busy client in South Yorkshire on an initial 6 month contract basis.
The main duties of the experienced Transport Planner are:
To develop and deliver appropriate transport strategies
Provide advice on transport standards to relevant partners and stakeholders
Represent the authority at regional & National meeting and forums
Manage consultation process on planning applications
Contribute to maintaining and improving the existing partnerships within the Council and partners to deal with transportation issues.
Support on the management of the capital and revenue budgets for relevant programmes ensuring the effective forward planning and budget monitoring of both budgets are kept up to date.
Manage, monitor and review the quality and performance of suppliers and contractors delivering transportation services.
To maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of relevant Transport policy.
The experienced Transport Planner will have:
Degree in Planning or Transport or a related Subject
Detailed knowledge and understanding of the transport policy, planning process, highways design standards, existing and emerging legislation, and policies relevant to the service area.
Highly developed influencing and negotiating skills and the ability to reconcile conflicting issues.
Experience in undertaking work across a range of specialist activities to successfully deliver transportation projects
Understanding project management techniques
Proven track record in preparing complex reports and attend cabinet & regulatory boards in support of senior officers and to act as the representative of the council in meetings with developers, members of the public and other stakeholders.
Proven track record in implementing projects in accordance with policy, design standards and financial parameters
