Rate: £60-£65 per hour (DOE)
Contract: Locum
Start Date: ASAP (September preferred, October considered)
Working Hours: 9:00am-5:00pm
Employment Lawyer - Remote Local Authority Opportunity
A Local Authority is seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to join its in-house legal team on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive and well-established legal service, providing expert employment law advice and assisting with a varied caseload during a period of increased demand.
The successful candidate will join a small but highly regarded Employment Law team and will be expected to quickly become involved in a range of contentious and non-contentious matters.
Key Responsibilities

Providing employment law advice to HR and management teams across the council.

Managing a broad caseload of employment law matters.

Handling Employment Tribunal claims from initial instruction through to conclusion.

Advising on disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management, and dismissal issues.

Supporting organisational change projects, restructures, and complex employee relations matters.

Delivering practical, commercially focused legal advice to senior stakeholders.
About You
To be considered for this position, you will:

Be a Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive.

Have strong employment law experience.

Ideally possess experience gained within a Local Authority or wider public sector organisation.

Have experience managing Employment Tribunal matters independently.

Be confident advising HR professionals and senior management.

Be capable of working autonomously in a fully remote environment and managing a busy caseload.
