Quantum Scholars is working with Hillingdon Council to recruit experienced and compassionate Alternative Provision Tutors to provide personalised one-to-one support to children and young people across Hayes and the surrounding areas.
As an approved Alternative Provision provider, we support learners who are currently unable to access mainstream education for a variety of reasons. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with young people who may have experienced barriers to education and help them re-engage with learning, rebuild their confidence and make meaningful progress.
Sessions are generally delivered in learners' homes or suitable community settings during school hours, providing a safe and supportive environment tailored to each learner.
About the Learners
You will work with children and young people who may have a range of additional needs and barriers to education, including:
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
ADHD
Anxiety and other mental health needs
Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
Medical needs
Social, emotional and behavioural challenges
School refusal or disengagement from education
Other SEND and additional learning needsWe are looking for tutors who are confident working with learners who may have struggled within mainstream education. The ability to build trusting relationships, establish routines and adapt your approach is essential.
The Role
As an Alternative Provision Tutor, you will:
Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 tuition
Support learners across core subjects including English, Maths, Science and other curriculum areas
Plan and adapt sessions according to each learner's individual needs, ability and interests
Help learners overcome barriers to education and develop positive attitudes towards learning
Build confidence, resilience, independence and self-esteem
Establish positive and consistent relationships with learners
Provide encouragement and pastoral support where appropriate
Monitor progress and adapt your approach to help learners achieve their educational goals
Work flexibly during school hours, Monday to Friday
Deliver tuition in learners' homes or appropriate community settingsWe are particularly interested in hearing from tutors based in Uxbridge, Hayes, West Drayton, Ickenham, Ruislip, Northwood, Hillingdon, Yiewsley, Cowley and the surrounding areas, where we are seeing an increasing number of learner referrals.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have:
Experience teaching, tutoring or supporting children and young people
Experience working with learners who have SEND, SEMH or additional needs
Experience working with young people who may be disengaged from mainstream education
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
The ability to adapt your teaching and approach to meet individual needs
A patient, empathetic, resilient and flexible approach
The confidence to work independently with learners on a 1:1 basis
An Enhanced DBS certificate, or willingness to obtain one
The right to work in the UK
