Facilities Fabric Engineer
Location: Basildon
Salary: £40,000
Working Hours: Monday–Friday, split shift
Shift Pattern: Week 1: 6:00am–3:00pm | Week 2: 1:00pm–10:00pm
The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Facilities Fabric Engineer to join a professional Building Services team based in Basildon.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive fabric maintenance across a commercial building environment, ensuring facilities are maintained to a high standard and issues are resolved efficiently.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the building.

Undertake general fabric and building maintenance works.

Carry out repairs to doors, locks, ironmongery, walls, ceilings, flooring and other building fabric.

Complete basic plumbing and carpentry repairs where required.

Respond to maintenance requests and attend breakdowns in a timely manner.

Identify defects and report any issues requiring specialist attention.

Assist with general building services and facilities maintenance.

Work alongside electrical and mechanical engineers to support the wider engineering team.

Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete job sheets.

Ensure all works are completed in accordance with relevant health & safety procedures.

Maintain a clean, safe and professional working environment.

Liaise with the Facilities Management team and building occupants where required.
About You
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within a commercial facilities management or building services environment and have a strong understanding of general building fabric maintenance.
You should be practical, reliable and confident working independently, while also being able to work effectively as part of a wider engineering team.
Requirements

Previous experience in Facilities Management, Building Services or a similar environment.

Strong fabric/building maintenance background.

Good practical problem-solving skills.

Ability to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance.

Good communication and customer service skills.

Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements.

Full UK driving licence desirable.
